Holistic treatment for a minor ear infection in dogs (or humans!)

This is a super random post amongst an array of delicious vegan recipes, but I feel compelled to share the miracle working solution I created for Kimmie's ear last night that's left her ear smelling like bruschetta, but has given her immediate pain relief for an infection that was starting to brew. I also include a few tid-bits here on a homemade dog ear cleaner and some miracle workers that cure an unlimited list of ailments in dog AND humans.

Adoptable Pets at Alachua County Animal Services!

As a volunteer I've put together this cool blog for the adoptable pets at Alachua County Animal Services in Gainesville, FL! Our high intake shelter is REALLY full right now and can use some help finding these pets amazing homes! Please check out some highlighted pets on the blog (I'm always trying to update it and add new pets) and consider joining us for our Summer Lovin' Adoption Event this Saturday from 8-8 where ALL pet adoption fees are WAIVED! Free adoptable and lovable pets that are vaccinated, fixed and microchipped. If you have dog(s) bring them for a meet n greet and make sure you bring their proof or rabies vaccine or your adoption application may not be approved. The shelter has been bursting at the seams all summer and we hope this event will help us clear the shelter. Help us fight pet-overpopulation and remember that ADOPTION IS THE BEST OPTION <3 See SOME of the many adoptable pets on the ACAS ADOPTABLE blog and get more info on ACAS' Facebook page.

Happy Holidays & New Year!

I'm a little late--- since Hanukkah has just officially ended tonight, but I wanted to make sure our Jewish dogs got their message out there to wish everyone a Happy Hanukkah this year.. and a belated Merry Christmas too. Clearly I was too busy this holiday season to actually make this post and share these photos in a reasonable amount of time.. but at this point we shall just make it a Happy New  Year to everyone, and a hope that you all had a festive holiday :) Welcome 2017!

Color Me A Forever Home

Love to color? Myself and a bunch of talented artists have put together an incredible adult coloring book called "Color Me A Forever Home" which was created to promote adoption and to raise funds for animal shelters and rescues. The first edition, which was released 2 weeks ago, features 13 drawings of various artists who have contributed to help animals. The books include not only the gorgeous hand-drawn designs of dogs and cats but include information about all of the featured artists. The books are only $5 each, and the best part about them is that every single bit of the money is going right to shelters and rescues.

How to make your pet a resume

What the heck is a pet resume?! So apparently, it's more than just a "trend", but a practical and helpful asset to have on hand if you rent, travel/stay in hotels, or plan sending your pet to daycare or another type of pet facility. For owners of breeds deemed "aggressive", and even just big dogs in general, you may know the feeling of constant discrimination against innocent dogs because of their size, breed, or the way that they look. Many owners struggle to find pet friendly rentals in general, and then having a large sized dog, and especially one that's on an aggressive breed list makes the search even harder.

How to host a great dog birthday party

So today we celebrated Manny's second birthday by throwing him a party! Here's what we did to give him the perfect birthday... I hope our creativity can help others plan a fun and easy memorable party for their fur babies too :)

Homemade pup-cakes (healthy cupcakes for DOGS!)

These cupcakes are especially for dogs, however they are healthy and tasty enough that humans could actually eat them as well if they wanted to. These cakes are plant based, healthy for your dog, and can provide a special treat for special occasions or just for good behavior. This recipe was taken from One Green Planet, but I got creative and added peanut butter "icing" and a dog biscuit topping to make them extra classy.

Manny Nose Best

For anyone who knows our pitbull mix Manny, they would most likely agree that he's the sweetest boy ever and he definitely has changed a lot of people's minds about what they think of pitbulls. Manny is a great ambassador for pitbulls everywhere because he can show the world how amazing the breed really is. For this reason, I've helped my fur-child start his own blog, "Manny Nose Best" to prove to change the world's view on pitbulls by having Manny impressively balance random objects on his nose. Check it out!

Fiddler on the Woof

A little post about Hanukkah and those special Jewish dogs that celebrate its traditions. These pooches may never get dog bones under the Christmas tree.. but they get to become engulfed in the fascinating spin of a dreidle, enjoy the shimmer of the lights on a menorah, and they too, enjoy family time and gifts as all dogs should.

Pumpkin & Peanut Butter Doggie Cookies! (healthy treats for dogs)

As we catch the "tail" end (pun intended) of October,  we certainly can't forget to acknowledge that it's Pitbull Awareness Month AND pumpkin everything month. If you haven't noticed, my blog has been filled with fun pumpkin themed recipes this month, because after all, pumpkin is delicious and it's good for you. For a little inspiration to pitbull lovers during tough times of hatred towards our big-headed angels, and some guidance to those that dislike or don't know much about pitties, check out my recent post about standing up to those that want to ban my favorite breed. Clearly these cookies revolve around dachshunds, which yes I love, but pitbulls and mixes are my real favorites :)

Welcome home Manny!

I would like to formally introduce the newest member of the Epstein household! This is Manny, named after the well known manatee, or sea cow (he has the markings of a cow!) and the personality of a very gently giant, just like a manatee, which is a popular animal in Florida. We found this guy at the Alachua county animal shelter yesterday and just fell in love.
