The Lost Dogs
If you've ever heard of the NFL player Michael Vick, you're probably aware that besides his talent at his profession, he has abused and murdered countless dogs in a dog-fighting operation he ran out of one of his properties in Virginia back in 2007. The tale of the abuse the animals suffered is horrific and bone-chilling, but the story of the dogs that were found alive on his property when the under-cover fighting operation was caught and all the animals were seized, turns around to each individual dog and his or her "fight" to prove themselves worthy of keeping their lives by being rehabilitated into kind and gentle family dogs. This tale not only warmed my heart but I hope that all of those who read it learn about the truth about pit bulls, learn about the horrors of dog-fighting operations that still occur underground all over the U.S. today, and see why so many people do not think Michael Vick should be forgiven of all that he has done.

Color Me A Forever Home
Love to color? Myself and a bunch of talented artists have put together an incredible adult coloring book called "Color Me A Forever Home" which was created to promote adoption and to raise funds for animal shelters and rescues. The first edition, which was released 2 weeks ago, features 13 drawings of various artists who have contributed to help animals. The books include not only the gorgeous hand-drawn designs of dogs and cats but include information about all of the featured artists. The books are only $5 each, and the best part about them is that every single bit of the money is going right to shelters and rescues.

Lost & Found
Another favorite of mine, "Lost and Found" by Jacqueline Sheehan was one I read a couple summer ago but never forgot the story of. When I found out there was a sequel ("Picture This") I found it at the library and read it immediately after.
Modoc
One of my favorite stories of all time... "Modoc" by Ralph Helfer. This book was returned to my personal bookshelf instead of being given away or donated because I will indeed read it again one day; possibly many times. It's a heartfelt story that had me in tears so many times throughout the book. So visually descriptive I felt like I was watching a movie, and it is incredibly hard to believe it's based off of true stories.
Flight Behavior
One of my new year's resolutions was to read more. I'm definitely a reader but have a hard time finding the time. I've made it a goal to try to read about a chapter a night of a book I chose to read for leisure. I don't get a chance to every night, but I still have been keeping up with reading more than I used to. I want to start highlighting some of my favorite books I've read.

Friends of the Library Book Sale!
The Friends of the Library Book Sale in Gainesville, FL is back! It's literally a huge warehouse full of books of all kinds... sorted out for your convenience, and at dirt cheap prices, most under a dollar, and the rest under $4 with a few exceptions. (like a practically new huge amazing Encyclopedia of Butterflies of the world I found there for $6.. still not bad!) This spring, the book sale opened yesterday (Saturday 4/25) and will continue to be open every day from 12-6pm ending this Wednesday. Tuesday the books are all ½ price and Wednesday everything is 10 cents. The Friends of the Library is a warehouse located on Main Street in Gainesville. All profits help the Alachua County Library District and help with community literacy projects. Better get going before they run out of books!
