Here's my book review on a newly acquired masterpiece my husband got me for my birthday... This Cheese is Nuts by Julie Piatt. The book is brand spankin' new as of lat month... he had to pre-order it for me before it was even available!
Seriously.. this book is nuts! Who would have ever thought the art of vegan cheese-making could be so life changing? I've already been exploring this art for a bit on my own but having a book with so many incredible recipes in the same place makes cheese experimenting much more fun. The options are seriously endless. The recipes in here vary from instant cheese that can simply be made by blending a bunch of ingredients together, to more complicated multi-step cheese that take several days to process with a variety of steps. From cheese rounds, to sauces, to spreads, to dehydrated cheese, to fermented cheeses, to ones that are raw to ones that are cooked... sweet mild cheese to sharp cheddar, to spicy nacho to so much more. There's even a section of "nut-free" vegan cheeses and a few other recipes including ways to incorporate your cheese into other dishes.
Is there a dairy filled cheese you love? I bet there's an equally delicious plant-based cheese you can make on your own in this book!
For every adventurous vegan out that that misses their cheese, or to dairy lovers trying to explore more environmentally friendly and cruelty-free options.... this book is for you. If you're curious to try some recipes but don't want to buy the book just yet, I'll be sharing some of the recipes on my blog as I make them.. in case you want to give them a go with minimal-book-buying commitment. In addition to Julie's recipes, you can find several others on my blog!
