Yesterday I spent the whole day helping out at ACAS during their adoption event. We adopted out many dogs and cats, but the sad truth is as a high intake shelter, almost the same number of animals were dumped at the shelter the same day. That's the harsh reality people- fix your pets, don't breed them, and chose adoption when looking for a new furry family member.. otherwise, you're just contributing to the problem.
I hope that if you're looking for a pet in this area you'll look at any of these organizations for the perfect fit for your family- but remember to give our county shelter a chance, they really are a great place! They strive to be no kill, despite the high intakes they have- thanks to their wonderful foster program, amazing volunteers, and rescues that are able to help out and pull some animals from them. They also have an amazing program called Heart 2 Heart which is a fundraising initiative which raises money for the treatment of heartworm positive dogs, dogs that at most other shelters would be euthanized because treatment is too costly. My business, Samm Wehman Art donated several raffle items to the event at ACAS, and along with a few Color Me A Forever Home coloring book sales and a special fundraiser that we had which was to make custom tea cups for volunteers at the shelter for a mere $10 donation each- we made over $200 for the Heart 2 Heart program, plus hopefully more from the raffle today! That money alone already saves one heart worm positive dog! Go check out the event and participate in the raffle to help contribute towards saving lives!! There are plenty of kittens, puppies, dogs and cats waiting for their forever home! Help us empty the shelter!!!!!!!!
