Finally Finding Alvin a Better Home than Ours (Mother's Day 2007)
After becoming sick of cleaning the house EVERY SINGLE DAY from Alvin's destruction, I finally agreed that it was time my mom could find him a better home of someone who could manage him and give him the attention and care he needed. It was far too much for either of us to handle as much as we had tried working with him, had him on the highest dosage of sedation 24/7, attempted shock collar training (humane and kind training just to get his attention to work with him, and for his deafness), buying every training agent on the market to keep him from destroying things yet nothing worked.
Against my dad's wishes, my mom contacted the Springer Spaniel rescue whom a member of was able to meet us halfway in Allentown, PA to get him. He was taken into foster care first, until less than 24 hours later my mom was contacted that he had been dropped off at some kennel in the middle of nowhere and had to be picked up. Apparently, he destroyed the home of the foster care volunteer, tried to kill her dog, and was now barking and ill-behaving so much that all the other dogs in the kennel were becoming physically ill and throwing up. He had to immediately be taken away, or other measures would be taken. That was how we celebrated mother's day that year, we drove hours away to pick Alvin up and bring him back into our home. "Happy Mother's Day to me" my mom said.
