This past weekend I had my biggest art show yet, at the Santa Fe College Spring Arts Fest!
I'm so grateful to my mom and husband who spent their time helping me with set up, break down, and helping assist with manning my booth. I'm thankful for a friend who used my art into tons of hand made bottle cap magnets that I was able to use to fundraise for Plenty Of Pit Bulls dog rescue, making $220 for them in the two days of my show.
I just started being a vendor at festivals and craft shows last fall, and have been changing up my booth display ever since.. starting out with bedsheets as tablecloths and a hand painted sign, I've improved something at each and every show I have done, this being my seventh one. At each and every one I've sold something to help fundraise for animals in need, whether it be coloring books for my county shelter or magnets and small items to gather donations for rescues in need of funds to help them save more animals. It's been a priority of mine to use my art as a way to help animals, since the time it takes me to create art takes away time from hands on volunteering and helping in other ways.
Thank you so much for all that came to visit and stop by my booth this weekend and who have offered their support to my art by buying animal themed art and gifts, as small as a sticker or as large as a huge hand painted one of a kind wooden board with monarchs on it. I've met so many new people and learned many new things. This show has given me the confidence to aim high, and taught me to take risks even when I'm hesitant or not sure if something may be worth it. Taking risks, after all, is how an artist gets started, and it's been because of the amazing customers I have had that enjoy my art that keep me going. Being an artist can be really overwhelming and frustrating, but it's people's reaction when they fall in love with something I've created that makes it all worth it :)
