I've been actively taking Zumba classes for about 3 months now and love it. It takes a while to catch onto the choreography but once you get enough practice it will come more naturally and is a great workout if you like to dance.. you don't even have to be good. It's a combination of latin dance, aerobics and what I like to call some "step up" dancing when you get more intense.. and if you are good at your form it can look pretty impressive (not that I am good at form at all.. but sometimes I like to pretend I am!) It's an awesome cardio workout to burn some calories without realizing you're doing it.
So I wanted to be able to take Zumba with me when I move, even though I know I can probably take classes wherever I go, but what would be better than having Zumba within my own home? My friend told me about Zumba fitness for the Wii.. and I didn't even know about it so I went to Gamestop and checked out what used versions they could order for me. I wanted to get the Zumba fitness Core which looked more intense from the cover of the box but they were sold out so I got Zumba fitness 2, which was slightly cheaper than the newest one which is called Zumba fitness World Party. I figure if I like it and eventually get bored, it's good to know there are other versions of the game with more songs and levels I can try later on. But before knowing anything about the game I figured I would save a few bucks to get an older one.
I just played it for the first time today and I love it! The associate at the Gamestop had a random Zumba fitness playing belt in the back that someone had traded in, which is the accessory you need with the game to hold the remote so it can calculate your hip action when you dance. Unfortunately when you buy it used you can't always get a belt with the disc. I was lucky because she just gave it to me.. but I may look to buy a second one online so a friend can play with me too. Even if you don't actually play with a remote/belt it's easy to follow along just to get the workout. You put in your height, weight, age and gender and it calculates the calories you burn. You can choose intensities, songs, scenes, classes and duration you want to work out for. The more energy you bring to your workout the more stars you earn and the more future levels you can unlock. Each song I did burned 30-50 calories which is awesome because within a few songs you're already starting to burn hundreds of calories (if that's even accurate!). Great way to incorporate a little cardio into your day for the Wii player with no time for the gym. I recommend it! I'm sure all the Wii Zumba fitness games are the same idea.. just different songs and scenery.
Hot or Not?? This product is definitely on my Hot list. Try it!
