Homemade Rice Milk

Rice milk is a good alternative to dairy milk and a nice change if you want to mix up your options from the more common choices of soy, almond or coconut. We had made a lot of extra rice than we needed for burritos tonight so I wanted to use some to try making this milk! Recipe taken from The Blender Girl.

Ingredients (for plain rice milk):

½ cup cooked rice
2 cups filtered water
pinch of sea salt

Directions:

Blend together in blender for several minutes until smooth. I love it thick but if you prefer to strain it you can use a nut milk bag and strain it all through.

To make sweetened rice milk, add:

1 teaspoon vanilla
3-6 dates OR 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup

To make chocolate rice milk, add:

all ingredients for sweetened rice milk, AND add 2 tablespoons of cacao powder.

To make strawberry rice milk, add:

all ingredients for sweetened rice milk, AND 1 cup of fresh strawberries

To make cinnamon rice milk, add:

all ingredients for sweetened rice milk, AND 1 teaspoon or more of cinnamon to taste
