Homemade roselle tea

Every since I started making my own tea, we've been experimenting with different things around here. We had the pleasure of picking some roselle from a local farm this weekend, which comes from a Hibiscus plant and is known as a Florida cranberry since it grows so well here.. and makes a crazy red, tart-sweet tea when allowed to steep in hot water. Josh made some of this delicious roselle tea yesterday and we have been sipping it ever since (hot or cold!) with some stevia leaves to compliment it's tartness with a natural sweetness.

Ingredients:

About 15-20 Roselle fruits

Handful of fresh stevia leaves (use honey to sweeten afterwards)

Tea kettle (or a pot with a lid if you don't have one!) filled with water

Directions:

Rinse roselles and stevia leaves and place in tea kettle with water. Turn on if electric or put on stove heat until it whistles that it's done! If you're using a pot, fill halfway with water and keep lid on it. Cook on high heat and watch to avoid overflowing. Pour into pitcher when done. Use honey to sweeten if you do not have stevia leaves.

Put in a pitcher and stick in the refrigerator after it cools if you prefer iced tea. Rosalie makes a very rich, tart, bright red tea and is high in Vitamin C. Enjoy!
