Crock Pot Apple Butta

Last night I made apple butter from scratch and it was INCREDIBLE... on top of getting amazing homemade apple butter in the end, it filled our whole house with the aroma of cinnamon apples during the process.. yum! The perfect fall recipe. I was inspired to make this recipe from a coworker who was telling me about it at lunch, and I used this recipe as a guide but added some different seasonings.

Ingredients:

Around 5 lbs of apples or enough to fill the crockpot when chopped up
(mixing different kinds is fine too!)

4 cups of brown sugar

1 tablespoon of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of nutmeg

1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie seasoning (optional- I get this from Trader Joe's and love it!)

a dash of salt

Directions:

Peel, core, and chop up apples. Combine in the crockpot with all of your seasonings and sugar. Mix well. Cook on a high setting for 1 hour, mixing every now and again.

Turn heat to low and allow to cook for 9-11 hours (I did let it cook all night).

Take off the lid and allow to cook for about an hour more.

Blend mixture in a food processor until smooth.

Can and once cool stick jars in the fridge.
