This hummus is simple, tasty, and only takes about 5 minutes to make if you already have the ingredients on hand! So if you're craving a protein packed, flavorful dip to pack for lunch tomorrow, something fast to whip up for a party, or just a tasty snack to keep in the fridge this is perfect. It also makes an amazing spread on sandwiches and wraps.
Ingredients:
¼ cup of lemon juice, or the juice of approximately 1 lemon
¼ cup of tahini sauce
½-1 clove of garlic, chopped, or about ¼ teaspoon of garlic paste (add more if you want it to be really garlicy)
2 tablespoons of olive oil
about ½ teaspoon of turmeric
½-1 teaspoon of sea salt
1 can of chick peas/garbanzo beans
Directions:
Blend together the lemon juice and tahini in a food processor for about 30 seconds to a minute. Add in garlic, olive oil, turmeric, and salt and blend for another 30 seconds to a minute. Drain and rinse garbanzo beans, and introduce half of the can at a time, blending for 30 seconds each time. Add a couple tablespoons of water if needed to create a smoother consistency to your liking.
Use as a spread on veggie sandwiches or a dip for chips, crackers or veggies. It should stay fresh in an air tight container in the fridge for about a week. Enjoy!
