Don't forget the pee...
To this day, Alvin suffers the consequences of his compromised liver and kidneys from his extensive dose of ibuprofen back in the day, as we were told they would always be weakened and his lifespan would likely be shortened. Well, the second part of that hasn't seemed to take any effect just yet. But the first part, unfortunately has.
Alvin extensively drinks always... he drinks quantities by the bucket-fulls and with that of course comes excessive urination (not to mention the lip slime and long strings of drool that swing from his mouth like a pendulum. He can't hold his pee through the night and I'm constantly awakened by the sound of it splattering on the carpet, to find a urine river which I must cross just to get out of bed. He can't hold it through the day while we are working and although he makes sure to do it on the hard kitchen floor, he floods the place which always ruins our doormat and anything else on the floor.
I have to limit his water intake to prevent the rivers of pee inside our home, and I honestly have stopped caring about his excess dehydration, because unfortunately there is no way around it. His water quantities get rationed on the daily. He waits excitedly to go outside after a blizzard so he can eat huge mouthfuls of snow until the cold makes his gums bleed. He opens his mouth to catch raindrops as he will get every droplet of water he can. He waits by his water bowl always waiting for it to be filled, and as he begins to slurp it up we have to push him away so poor Weiner can get a drop or two. We are counting down the days of torture for ourselves and hope that he will not be the immortal dogs which live to be 20 because I honestly cannot deal with that.
