I'm going to start blogging about my destructive dog. I will post a future blog on his whole life story, but this blog is just an update of Alvin's mischief for the week.
But first, a few facts that may help you see the mischief in the right light:
-Alvin is 12 years old. He has been a problem for all 12 of his existence.
-Alvin has been through training. He has been worked with constantly. He has been given enough love and attention for his entire life. He is on tranquilizers 24/7.
-He has separation anxiety. He can't be left alone or he destroys everything.
-He has dog aggression.
-He is deaf.
-He ripped up the thunder coat when we put it on him.
-He eats everything.
Alvin's Adventures for the first week of March:
Monday: Monday Alvin was annoying as usual. I was home all day as we had just gotten home from Florida so he didn't have the opportunity to get into anything while he was being constantly babysat.
Tuesday: While at ballroom dancing class, Alvin knocked down and shattered one of the double mirrored closet doors in the walk in foyer area, shattering the whole thing and sending shards of glass all over the house resulting in an intensive clean up. Shards even went into our shoes, since the foyer area is where we keep our shoes. Now we need to get a replacement door which won't be cheap, and suffer with splinters in our shoes for eternity.
Wednesday: Alvin's extreme and constant thirst due to his permanent liver and kidney damage is only increasing with his old age. His compromised organs are due to him getting into a sealed child proofed bottle of Advil 6 years ago and eating the entire bottle resulting in extreme toxicity that nearly killed him (and cost my mother a small fortune in vet bills). We were told from then on that he would be compromised because of this and his liver and kidneys are weak. His signs of permanent damage include excessive drinking and peeing. He drank so much while we were at work that he peed all over the house. What a joy it was to clean up. He aimed mostly for the nice floor mat we loved with the backyard birds on it, which is now soaked with the stench of urine and in the trash.
Thursday: Alvin got the glass coffee pot off the kitchen counter and shattered it.
Friday: While a friend was visiting, Alvin got into his backpack and tossed around the contents for fun. Thankfully nothing needs to be replaced.
Saturday: Alvin got the privilege of a day at the beach. Him and Weiner enjoyed running in the sand and swimming in the water. Alvin somehow injured his leg, and when taking him home and investigating the injury, he managed to somehow get a rubber band wrapped around his foot and get it embedded in his fur and skin. Who knows how he managed to do that?!
Well I learned that since there are limited solutions for the 12- year old menace, I may as well take advantage of his mischievous adventures for writing a blogging series that may one day top the bad behaviors of Marley (there is much more to come). Stay tuned for next week's update on Alvin's Adventures!
