Oh She Glows Classic Green Monster

This recipe is the basic classic green smoothie in Angela Liddon's original Oh She Glows Cookbook. To me, if a smoothie isn't green, I feel like it's just not healthy enough. I add a bit of kale or spirulina to most smoothies I make regardless of the recipe (they don't add any taste), but they always add protein and antioxidants, and make me feel less guilty if I don't eat anything green for the rest of the day. This simple, basic, delicious, wholesome, healthy smoothie recipe already contains greens (and I promise you won't even taste them-- you'll just SEE the green), and if eating a green smoothie disgusts you, fortunately you can just add a half a cup of blueberries (fresh or frozen) to offset the color to be purple instead :) This will energize you and make your skin glow (normal color-- not green or purple!) and like most of the nut containing recipes I post, it can be modified to be nut-free.

Ingredients:
(1 smoothie)

1 cup almond or other non-dairy milk
1 cup kale or baby spinach
1 frozen banana
2-3 ice cubes
1 tablespoon almond or peanut butter
1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flax
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
pinch of ground cinammon
protein powder (optional)
*add 1/2 cup blueberries to make the smoothie purple instead of green!

*use sunflower seed butter to avoid nuts

Directions:

In a high speed blender blend everything together.
