Old fan blades.
Who would have thought.
I just love hoarding old junk if I can repurpose into something cool and awesome. Other people's crap is always just going into landfills.. into our oceans, all over our earth, harming wildlife, destroying the planet. For that reason, collecting heaps of old used fan blades from thrift stores is my newest hobby because they actually make a pretty cool unique wooden canvas for painting on, and make excellent wall art when finished! The idea came from my love for painting on scrap wood pieces, and finding a set of old fan blades at the Repurpose Project about a year ago and thought they were a cool unique shape to paint on. I've since learned that other makers enjoy using them as dragonfly wings for cool "junk art" amongst other creations. I may be the first to use them for pet and animal portraits though!
I'm posting this here as evidence in case, as unlikely as it is, that one day in the future, fan blade art becomes the newest and most becoming trend for upcycling artists. Just know that I was among the first artists to start it ;)
Check out some cool creations I have made, and my portfolio of fan blade art continues to grow. I have my blades up in galleries, shops, and at art shows and festivals that I do. They hang in homes, and maybe one day will even find themselves adhered as functional blades on a fan!
