Stop #1: Casey's Corner in Magic Kingdom
Casey's Corner on Main St. in Magic Kingdom has loaded vegan dogs with a side of fries that are divine. We enjoyed ours loaded with all the fixings it came with, plus sauerkraut, jalapeƱos and onions from the toppings bar. If you don't like these things don't add them, and you can also order it plain if you want. There's also ketchup and mustard to add of course, if you'd like. The hot dog comes with a side of fries, and I think there may have been a healthier option to choose as a side like an apple or something, but realistically, who wouldn't want delicious fries with their vegan dog? For faster service, order and pay ahead on the Disney app, and when you go to pick up your food it will be ready for you! Great thing to utilize if the park is busy. Food hack if you're hungry and like kraut... ask for an extra tray and load it up with a massive side of kraut to just eat on its own. Their kraut is really good! Yummmmmm. Great meal for under $10. This is a regular food item and to my knowledge it should always be available.
Stop #2: Friar's Nook in Magic Kingdom
Friar's Nook has a bunch of very meaty meals, and the sucky part is you wouldn't even notice that they have a vegan Bratwurst sausage because it says "plant-based" really tiny under the picture on the menu! Take my word for it though, they have it, and when you go up to the window to order make sure you indicate you'd like the vegan/plant-based sausage and they'll know what you mean! It comes loaded with kraut, and you can add extra condiments on this as well. The side of tots are naturally amazing as expected. The roll is even vegan too! This sausage was really good but I felt it was a little dry. Add some extra ketchup or mustard to help with that! Hearty filling meal for under 10 bucks. This is a regular food item and to my knowledge it should always be available.
Stop #3: Storybook Treats in Magic Kingdom
Conveniently located right next door to Friar's Nook, you can enjoy the delicious lime dole whip at Storybook Treats! Get it in the Peter Pan float, where the dole whip is served over a cup of soda (make sure you order without the chocolate feather to make it vegan!), or for a limited time for Halloween you can enjoy the incredible Maleficent Cone (but ask for it without the horns!). The horns are milk chocolate, but the included purple sprinkles and black waffle cone are deliciously vegan. Ask for a cup for when it drips and spills... because it will! The lime whip is so creamy and delicious.. you may not even believe there's no dairy in it! We double checked though.. just a lot of sugar, flavoring and coconut oil :) Not the healthiest option but this was my favorite treat we got ALL day. The cone was large and incredibly filling and for around $5 the price was very fair. Here my selfie doesn't fully capture the lime green hue of the Maleficent cone.. but trust me, it's very limey! My favorite! The Peter Pan float should always be available, but the Maleficent cone is only available through Halloween.
Bonus Stop: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe in Magic Kingdom
We clearly ate plenty of food in one park for this trip, but next time we will definitely be trying the Plant-based Southwest Cheeseburger our friend told us was reallyyyy good! You can get it at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe over in Frontierland.
Stop #4: JUST talk at Epcot's International Food & Wine Festival
At Epcot's Food & Wine Festival, they have all kinds of culinary talks, demos, workshops and presentations going on throughout the day. Our friends took us to the JUST talk.. which was a short presentation on JUST foods and their values.... all dairy-free, egg-free, affordable and attainable food products included mayo, salad dressings, cookie dough and soon to be released.. the JUST egg! By attending the presentation we each got a free sample of the JUST cookie dough and it was just so good! Make sure you check in 2 hours before each talk to grab your tickets. This we didn't know, so we waited on standby and fortunately they were able to squeeze us into the next talk! Unfortunately this talk was just this weekend, but there is a whole lineup of speakers and presentations throughout the rest of the food and wine festival, including Impossible Foods (plant-based "meat" products) which will be making an appearance at the festival on September 28-30, and October 26-28.
Stop #5: Greece, Epcot's World Showcase
Try the vegan loaded nachos in from the Greek cart, which come with vegan tzatziki sauce, so you don't even have to modify them.. enjoy them as is! The pita chips are loaded with the sauce and other Greek toppings such as olives, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and meatless beefy crumbles on top! A small tray is under $5, so it's affordable and a good snack that won't fill you up if you plan on trying several foods at the festival. This item will only be available during the Food and Wine Festival 2018, which ends November 12.
Stop #6: Africa, Epcot's World Showcase
Try the Spicy Ethiopian Red Lentil Stew with Vegan Yogurt and Quinoa from the Africa Cart. This was one of my favorites! It definitely has a kick and lot of flavor. The best part is the entire thing is vegan... even the yogurt! The serving size is small, but under $5 it provides a good sized snack to enjoy while tasting foods from around the world. If you like spices, then this is a must-try! This item will only be available during the Food and Wine Festival 2018, which ends November 12.
Stop #7: India, Epcot's World Showcase
We didn't actually get this one (because, as you can tell we were already getting and eating a LOT of food, but what I'm planning to try on my next trip to Epcot is the Madras Red Curry with Roasted Cauliflower, carrots, chickpeas and basmati rice. It is available in a small portion at the India cart, and just from walking by I can tell you that it SMELLS damn good! This item will only be available during the Food and Wine Festival 2018, which ends November 12.
Stop #8: The Almond Orchard, Epcot's World Showcase
I so wanted to call this one "Almondland".. as if it were a country or something, because I was just so excited about all their almond options.. especially this loaded soft serve almond based banana "ice cream", topped with almonds and berries. Make sure you tell them you want it vegan and to opt out of the chocolate streusel topping which is included but is NOT vegan. Another affordable treat under $5, and is very dense and filling! This was really good and I highly recommend it if you want some tasty dairy-free dessert. We lucked out here.. they messed up one of the ones our group ordered by adding almonds on it when my friend had asked for no almonds.. and were actually going to throw it away. My husband asked if he could have it instead of it going into the trash so they just gave it to him! Thank you Disney for not being wasteful :) This item will only be available during the Food and Wine Festival 2018, which ends November 12.
Stop #9: Earth Eats, Epcot's World Showcase
Enjoy a mini Impossible Burger Slider with Wasabi Cream and Spicy Asian Slaw on a Sesame Seed Bun. This item is vegan as is and doesn't need to be modified. Just be aware that the slider is SMALL.. so it's meant to be a snack and not a full meal! I'm personally not super crazy about the Impossible Burger (I like the Beyond Burger more).. but found the toppings on this one to make it enjoyable. Each slider is $5, and this stand also has several flavors of kombucha which looked really good! This item will only be available during the Food and Wine Festival 2018, which ends November 12.
Stop #10: Club Cool, Epcot
Our last stop was for some refreshing soda samples inside "Club Cool", a shop at Epcot with sodas and candies and merchandise to buy. It's pretty sweet that right now they have a full soda machine with mini cups so you can go ahead and sample as many sodas as you'd like! If you love free stuff and you love soda.. Club Cool is a must stop! I personally do not like soda, but enjoyed the orange drink featured from Japan, that wasn't carbonated and was more of a juice. The other options are all unique soda flavors from around the world! This soda sample machine is available all the time, not just during the food and wine festival.
All in all, our day was fantastic and we got to enjoy an array of vegan food options from two different Disney Parks. I really appreciated that the Epcot Food and Wine Festival featured such a variety of vegan options in several different countries, including some more that we didn't get a chance to try yet. Vegan or not, I suggest you check out the Food and Wine Festival and all that it has to offer! For a full list of all the countries and food items that are featured during the festival, check out Disney's list here.
Also.. Epcot has pretty much no Halloween decor going on right now, but if Halloween is your thing, check out all the themed decorations at Magic Kingdom!
