Have a baby shower basket to go to soon? Save money and have the cutest basket at the shower by getting a little creative with some useful baby items in your basket (such a diapers, baby socks, and washcloths). Skimming cute ideas online, I fell in love with the "sleeping babies" basket tutorials and wanted to combine it with some other fun and practical baby gifts to truly make the gift my own and that would make an all around impressive basket that the soon to be parents will appreciate! Enjoy my steps below on how to make the "sleeping babies" in the basket, and some ideas on other useful gifts to include in your basket.
Baby basket checklist:
Basket, laundry hamper, or another kind of practical container that is attractive and the recipient can reuse later on
package of newborn size diapers
pack of soft baby washcloths
package of socks
tissue paper in color theme of your choice
rubber bands
sharpie marker or googly eyes and glue
Other ad-ins (all optional and feel free to include other things):
baby toys
teething toys
cute animal sponge
cold compress
car sun visors for windows (we live in Florida where it's hot year round so I thought this would be helpful!)
box of baby wipes
Brag stickers (each says number of months old to stick on baby outfit and take pictures as they grow!)
I also added a framed piece of personal artwork that would be fun in a baby's room
Baby shower card and envelope
Directions:
Gather one diaper, one washcloth, and one sock per sleeping baby you want to create.
Roll diaper up tightly.
Secure with a rubber band.
Place baby sock on top of diaper to look like a hat. Roll up bottom if necessary.
"Swaddle" the baby diaper in the washcloth by placing its head on a corner and wrapping from the sides
Wrap snugly and fold excess up the back of the diaper and tuck into back of the sock hat
Draw two sleeping eyes on the diaper with a marker, or glue on cute googly eyes if you have some.
Make as many diaper babies as you want, and then arrange your basket. Excess diapers can be stacked on the bottom of the basket as filler. Use tissue paper to layer on top of the diapers bottom and stick out the top of other gifts for decoration.
Put bulkier items such as baby wipes (not visible in photo because they're covered up) on the bottom to hold diapers down, and make a flat surface for your "sleeping babies". Surround the babies by other fun baby items and toys.
Write a personal message in a card and tuck the envelope in the front so your recipient will know who the gift was from.
Bring it to the shower and watch everyone ooh and ahh at your cute baby basket :)
Pretty DIY baby shower basket! My mom threw a fun baby shower for my elder sister on last weekend. The party venues in San Francisco served wonderful services for this shower. Food they served was delectable and I loved their interior a lot.
